Making It Right Series- Diversity and Inclusivity: This Ability is Not Disability.
Disability inclusion at work goes beyond just hiring people with disabilities. An inclusive workplace also strives to treat their employees fairly, taking their capabilities and what they have to offer into account. It offers employees with disabilities — whether visible or invisible – an equal opportunity to learn, develop, be compensated fairly, and, ultimately, to succeed.
People with disabilities have rights which should and MUST be respected. They have their own unique talents and skills, with their experiences in coping with their individual disabilities giving them heightened resilience, problem-solving skills, and empathy. They should NOT be overlooked and discriminated for something which is, after all, only a small part of who they are. They do not define themselves by their disabilities and neither should the rest of us.
True inclusion is about embracing differences; to learn more about this, join ReachOut and the Making It Right Series with Brian in an eye-opening webinar titled, ‘Diversity and Inclusivity: This Ability is Not Disability.’
